About alerts.live
alerts.live is a free, public map of protests, strikes, road closures, gatherings, shootings and assaults around the world. It reads public news, official feeds and open data, places each story on the map, groups reports of the same incident and shows how well each alert is corroborated.
In numbers (live)
283alerts on the live map now
2766public alerts recorded
126countries with alerts
1248cities with alerts
40958feeds in the source catalogue
6266distinct outlets cited
How it works
- Feeds are read about every 10 minutes. Headlines are classified (type, place), geolocated and matched to existing alerts.
- Reports of the same incident are merged and their sources combined, so one incident counts once. See the methodology.
- Every alert shows its sources, a confidence score (0-100) and a status. The score reflects corroboration, not danger to you.
- Zones disappear from the live map 12 hours after the last sighting. The history stays on the city, country and incident pages.
- Available in 7 languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch.
What it is not
It is not an official source and not an emergency service. It does not give a safety score for any place: the numbers describe what public sources reported. Reports may be wrong; follow local authorities and official guidance.
Use it
- City pages and country pages, each with an Atom feed.
- Free embeddable widget for your website.
- Free public API and llms.txt for developers and AI tools.
- Email digests: use "Get alerts" on the map and choose how often (15 minutes to monthly).
- Sources · Changelog · Status · Privacy · Contact
Descriptive, not a safety score. alerts.live counts and maps events reported by public sources. It does not rate how safe a place is. Informational only, not official: follow local authorities.
